Find Your Happiness by Spring Cleaning Your Life

4/4/2016

Picture
When people generally think about spring cleaning, they tend to think about getting out the mop and dust rags and literally decluttering the counters. Some do it out of habit and others just because it feels good to declutter and be able to find things again in your house. But if you think about it, there are probably many other areas of life we can apply this same idea to - such as our finances and even our relationships.

Let’s start with what we know

The act of spring cleaning gives us the opportunity to cleanse our homes of the things that are making our lives less efficient and, in the process, dragging our happiness down the drain. Things like the clutter on the counter or the stack of papers you’ve been meaning to file for the last few months are obvious places to start.

But if you take a moment and dig a little deeper, there are sure to be other things that are consciously or subconsciously dragging you down every day. For example, what about that piece of furniture you keep telling yourself that you want to restore and haven’t gotten to since you bought it years ago? Or what about the clothes in your closet you keep pushing aside because they have either gone out of style or simply don’t fit? These kinds of things take up mental and emotional space in our lives and simply by donating or otherwise getting rid of them, it clears a path for the things that bring us happiness or satisfaction.

Now let’s dig a little deeper

Remember that pile of papers we spoke about earlier? Yes, that mixture of old junk-mail, bills, and other financial papers. It’s time to go through those and apply the same idea as we did earlier by not only filing away the things we need to keep but by creating an environment that helps both our emotional and financial states.

1 Go Paperless
It’s amazing how easy it is in today’s world to become more paperless through enrolling in online billing and automatic payments for the bills we have to pay each month.

2 Eliminate Subscriptions
We can also save time and money by cutting out the bills for the things that no longer bring us happiness… like that expensive gym membership that is no longer getting used as you originally planned and now causes resentment every time you pay it. There are a million and one ways to continue to get your exercise fix without a gym membership just by utilizing the things you already have… if you even need to go that far, i.e., there’s no equipment needed for sit-ups or pushups and last time I checked we are all free to walk or run outside.

3 Extraneous Account
Fees Another place to look for a financial stack of “clutter” might be all your extraneous accounts. It’s often overlooked, but you may be paying for the 401k from your old employer or other ancillary accounts that you’ve accumulated over the years that could potentially be consolidated to cut back those nickel and dime fees that are staring at you while filing away the quarterly statements.

4 Spending Plan
Another way to spring clean a path to financial happiness is to think ahead and create a spending plan. To learn more about what makes a spending plan different from a budget, stay tuned for a future blog that digs into this even further.

Now, the most difficult

Relationships. There are some people in your life that know just how to lift you up no matter if it’s been a day or a decade since you talked with them last. And then there are the “others.” In this digital-friend-collecting world we seem to live in today, so many people put a value on the actual number of friends they have over the quality and depth of those relationships. The challenge is to let go of the relationships that are dragging you down or are simply no longer contributing to your happiness… at all.

The need for relationships to be “spring cleaned” could be for a myriad of reasons. Perhaps there is a lack of trust or loyalty or maybe things have gotten to the point where the relationship is toxic. There are other more subtle reasons: like you’ve grown apart and no longer see eye to eye or you could even just be unsure where the relationship stands.

The easy ones to identify are those that you are fighting to make things work or there is just no sense of mutual support. The key is to let go of those relationships that are no longer bringing you what you want and need: happiness. It can be hard at first to move on from certain relationships, but if they are truly meant to be with you, they will lift you up and perhaps someday again be a welcomed addition to your life.

We all know life is too short to be trying to carry all the physical and emotional baggage that comes with the things and people that weigh us down. With springtime upon us now, I wish you all the best in your own personal spring cleaning and know you will flourish more and more as you continue to “declutter” your life and start surrounding yourself with the things and people that you love.

“If you have but only two coins left, buy a loaf of bread with one and a flower with the other. The first is to sustain life and the second is to have a life worth living.” ~ Ancient Chinese Proverb

Don’t Rely on the Luck of the Irish for Your Financial Success

3/17/2016

The term “Luck of the Irish” is not Irish in origin, according to Edward T. O’Donnell, an Associate Professor of History at Holy Cross College and author of “1001 Things Everyone Should Know About Irish American History.”

"During the gold and silver rush years in the second half of the 19th century, a number of the most famous and successful miners were of Irish and Irish American birth …

“Over time this association of the Irish with mining fortunes led to the expression 'Luck of the Irish.' Of course, it carried with it a certain tone of derision, as if to say, only by sheer luck, as opposed to brains, could these fools succeed."

This applies to your finances as well … because no matter how you get rich and pay off your loans … it’s a strategy … and luck has nothing to do with it.

Tardus takes the "luck" or wishful thinking out of financial success by creating solid plans and giving coaching advice that helps you create wealth—instead of just hoping to get wealthy someday.

March Q and A | What happens AFTER the Income Snowball?

3/10/2016

Q:  Ok, so during the first year with Tardus we learn about the Income Snowball, what happens after that?

A:  It truly depends on what your goals are!  The Income Snowball is the basis for building your future wealth.  Understanding how and why it works are the most important thing to learn in your first year.  The Income Snowball will work with any income stream that provides monthly cash flow whether it is Peer to Peer lending, Forex, Turn-key Rental Properties, etc.

What happens after that depends on your goals and how soon you want to achieve those goals.  Some clients just want to continue working their Snowball and might not have a desire or resources to get into rental properties or other advanced strategies.  That is what the Tardus University is for, to help people keep on track with their Snowball, once they have it going.

Then, for clients that want to expand and accelerate their Snowball, there is the Money-Wise Pro level.  This is getting into the more strategic strategies like purchasing rental properties for cash, going for not only the additional positive cash flow, but for the added benefits of reducing tax liabilities so you can keep more of your own money!  This level is also where you can take advantage of the professional recommendations from Tycon Properties and look at restructuring your 401Ks and IRAs to free up even more money to accelerate your Snowball!

The VIP level is where you can totally accelerate your Snowball.  This level is also where you can take advantage of th enew strategies and techniques to accelerate your Snowball! At the VIP level, you will be able to take advantage of special investments and professional strategies recommend by pre-screened financial planners, who will help you take your Income Snowball to the next level.

Let me illustrate the differences this way.  The old Tardus America taught people how to pay off a 30 year mortgage in half the time, in fifteen years with a simple sweep account.  With the Income Snowball, you can pay off a 30 year mortgage in five to eight years, cutting the time in half again.  With the VIP level strategies, you are looking at paying off a 30 year mortgage in two to four years!

So now that you know what is possible using your Snowball to build your future wealth, it is time to redefine and refocus on what you really want to achieve in life and when.  Your coach is there to help you!  Remember that money is not the end goal, money is just a tool.  What do you really want to achieve in your life if money was not a problem?

Get to Know Our Coaches: Charles “Chuck” Kettenring

By Chuck Kettenring

I was born and raised in Utah.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Communications from BYU and a Masters in Management from Touro University International.  I have been married for 37 years to my beautiful wife, Vicki, who is an Early Intervention Developmentalist in the local school district.  We have been blessed with four children and eight grandchildren with two more on the way.

I began my military career through the Air Force ROTC at Brigham Young University (BYU) and served as a Special Agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI).  After seven years of active duty, we left the Air Force and moved to West Bountiful, Utah where we still reside.  When we returned to Utah I transferred into the Utah Army National Guard and later the Army Reserves.  I served a 12-month combat tour as an intelligence officer in Iraq 2006-2007 training Iraqi Soldiers.  I completed my 32 years of service as a Team Chief at the Army Operations Center at the Pentagon.  I retired from the US Army in Dec 2012 as a Lieutenant Colonel (LTC).

My financial background began in 1987 as an investigator pursuing Property and Casualty insurance fraud for criminal prosecution for fourteen years as a Senior Special Agent with the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB).  In 2003, I started a small company named Freakin Genius LLC that dabbles in real estate and am currently employed as a Wealth Coach (American Dream Rehabilitation Specialist) for Tardus Wealth Strategies.

My main passions in life are my wife, my family and my country!  My new found passion is Tardus.  I became a coach because I found a way to help people. To me, Tardus “IS” the American Dream.  It is the first program that I have found in my life that actually liberates people from the chains of debt and financial oppression. Most of my life there have been times when I had some money, but no time to enjoy it, and there were times when I had time and no money.  Tardus provides the means to have both time and money at the same time!  All you have to do is follow the plan and feed your Snowball!  Every Tardus client is a debt-free millionaire, they just might not know it yet!  My job is simply to help get them there!

I have achieved most of my “life-long” goals but the biggest goal I am now working on, thanks to Tardus, is to financially set up my children, my grand-children and my great-grandchildren for success and freedom in their lives.  Money is just a tool, not the end goal.

I love to travel, cook, sing and to go jogging.  My favorite dish is Roasted Cashews with Curry Chicken over Cous-cous.

The Top-Five Reasons You Should Compete in the 2016 Wealth Revolution Competition

3/5/2016

It’s that time of year again … time for the 2016 Wealth Revolution Competition!

This is your chance to compete with others and pay off $20,000 or more in debts within 6 months … and if you are really committed you can turn your whole life around.  While the competition has already started for some, it’s not too late to join in and see what you can accomplish!

Just ask Paul Whisler from Florida, Grand Prize Winner of the 2015 Wealth Revolution Competition …

He’s been a superstar member of Tardus Wealth Strategies, attending every seminar and event that he can, doing every piece of homework we give him, and finding unique ways to save money and increase cash flow.

Paul says, “All of that effort is paying off in a big way, not just because I get to go to Mexico (for Free!) but because I’m making huge strides in eliminating debt and setting myself and my family up for success."

Here are the Top-Five Reasons You Should Compete in the Wealth Revolution Competition Challenge

Reason #1: The Spirit of Competition
The most impressive and dramatic transformations I've ever seen have come as a result of competition. You can count me as one of them. An organized event with rewards gives people a goal and helps them get moving (and keep moving) and give it their best.

Reason #2: Hope and Inspiration
Having inspirational role models moves people from "What's the use; I've tried everything and nothing will ever work for me" to "If they can do it, I can do it."
You’ll see other Tardus members succeeding and paying off massive debts, and you can use them as role models to duplicate their success.

Reason #3: The Results of Teamwork
Unlike most financial programs which promise results without effort, the Wealth Revolution Competition is a real-life, hands-on competition that lasts for 6-months as you race to pay off $20,000 or more in debts as you develop passive income opportunities. When you take on these goals with a group of other like-minded individuals, I see firsthand the power of solidarity, commiseration, and shared success.

Reason #4: The Power of Accountability
Accountability is one of the most powerful motivational forces. You’ll be surrounded with positive people with their own Tardus success stories, stories – and those very people aren’t afraid to ask the big questions because they’ve had to ask and answer for themselves already.  This whole program (not just the competition) really makes you accountable to yourself, your wealth coach, and the group of people just like you striving to pay off debts and retire wealthy!

Reason #5: Connecting with Your Emotional Motivators
The Wealth Revolution Competition always stirs up emotions that stimulate you to get up off the couch and start making positive changes to advance yourself toward the future of your dreams - that's a good thing! (In fact, it’s our goal!) Sometimes the emotions aren’t welcome at first but as you work through them, you can see that you are dropping the baggage and false beliefs the “old system” has engrained in you and instead embrace new ideas that lead to prosperity.

It’s NOT too late to join the 2016 competition

You can still earn bonus points that will put you in the running for amazing prizes. But remember, the competition only lasts 6 months – so you REALLY don’t want to wait any longer to join.

We hope these reasons have sparked a fire in you that tells you that you are ready to start building true wealth!

Monthly Q&A | Advisors Vs. Coaches

2/22/2016

How can I find the right person to help me?

Finding good help these days can be hard with the endless stream of information that flashes at you every day and night. The differences can be even vaster when looking for help with your finances.

Who should you trust?

How do you know who’s really looking out for your best interests?

What should you look for in someone’s advice?

Considering the two financial professionals that are on opposite sides of the spectrum, Financial
Advisors and Financial Coaches have two entirely different skill sets and ideals.

Financial Coaches do not give “advice” or sell you on specific stocks, mutual funds, bonds or any other investment, but rather guide you through the education of learning the necessary information to analyze your own investment strategy and risk management, thus giving you the independence to make appropriate decisions for yourself. Financial coaching still pays attention to the investment side of the business… we just approach it in a different way.

It’s also important to remember that it is in the best interest for Financial Advisors to put all of their clients in a standardized portfolio where they all look the same, whereas Financial Coaches are geared toward the goal of creating fully functional, educated, and independent clients by building on the client’s own values, skills, knowledge, and goals.

No one needs to walk the journey to financial freedom alone. And with the support of your financial coach, you can accelerate your progress while avoiding many of the obvious mistakes and conflicts of interest inherent in the traditional financial advice arena.

Our financial coaches are one of the many features of the Tardus Wealth System that sets it apart from all those other so-called solutions. If you are curious about how a coach might help you
with your financial goals, call us today!

With all kinds of love, hearts, and chocolates in the air this month, we wanted to focus on money issues that are happening in bedrooms all over the world. After all, kisses may be the language of love, but money still does the talking.

TO HAVE AND TO HIDE

It is astounding how many couple’s get into bed with someone that they don’t even know…financially speaking, that is. Although, it’s really no surprise that financial secrets have led to the destruction of so many marriages when you consider that a large part of today’s society views financial
infidelity as being just as harmful as sexual infidelity.

In a recent study, 36% of men and 40% of women confess that they had at one time or another lied to their spouse about the price of something they bought or outright side-stepped a purchase all together. And it doesn’t stop there. Hidden bank accounts, credit cards, loans from their 401K’s, collections, even taking out home equity loans without telling their partner in life are all contributors that have led to financial tensions in so many relationships. Not only can hiding purchases be bad for a couple’s emotional relationship, it can also lead couples down the wrong path financially and in the opposite direction of their snowball.

FOR BETTER, FOR WOR$E

Fortunately, many couples that take the plunge, agree that working through this difficult topic to find a solution together is the best course of action… no matter how uncomfortable it is. People hide their dirty little money secrets to cover up all kinds of embarrassing reasons from addictions to compulsive shopping habits. But studies have shown that those that open up about their finances early in their relationship have a better chance of survival.

It’s proven that those that make the time to talk about their finances as a couple, embrace each other’s pasts, and work together to develop a strategy that works for both, find the best financial success over those that ignore issues and let them build to unsurmountable proportions. Those that dream together AND take individual responsibility (i.e. stop blaming) find that amazing things start to happen. Shared success in the relationship not only in the financial realm, but other pursuits as well!

'TIL DEBT DO WE PART

As one last little tidbit to round out this kiss-and-tell, it’s important to note that financial discussions are NOT something to check off the list and never return to. It may not be as sexy as other topics of conversation, but it is CRITICAL that the financial health of the relationship continues to be nurtured and grow over the years through consistent communication, and help from your coaches when needed. Continue to work on overcoming the dark days of debt together and don’t lose sight of your dreams.

Work with your partner in life and find a renewed sense of drive and determination as you strive together to live the life that you dream of… and deserve.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S, YOU LOVE BIRDS! <3
